Through the discussions in the working group and in the forum, we shared our resources and practices in order to combat the early school leaving. It is one of the best ways to improve our self-training. This project has improved my experience and my knowledge about the early school leaving phenomenon. The strengths of the portal are: the sharing of concrete situations and solutions, the partnership and networking, the contributions from experts, the high level of reflection, the open-mindedness. All the sections of the Portal are useful, in particular the case studies, interviews and teachers’ experiences. In my profession I have to accompany students and adults facing personal, familial and school difficulties. This project gives the opportunity to share resources and practices with various actors (teachers, experts, counsellors, public authorities). It is a real enrichment for everybody.

The Portal school inclusion allows you to better organize self-training, and have many resources on the issue of fighting early school leaving. The most useful section is surely the training package, in view of a whole personal training on all aspects of this important theme. The other sections play a supporting role and contribution in studying issues. The portal is really useful to be fully engaged on the issue of dispersion, capturing the European dimension and the differences, and could be used also by head teachers, families, and of course students.

The project and the portal enable and promote the exchange of educational approaches against early school leaving. It is very important to use new and more immediate methods that are close to the young people. In the section on the educational products it is possible to find a video which can be shown to students in order to launch a debate.

The project focuses on topics that are in line with the difficult period that our society is going through. Indeed the situation entails that students have demotivated behaviours and they should be constantly monitored, assessed and corrected with innovative and efficient initiatives. The most useful section of the portal is the one dealing with publications.

The content of the School inclusion Portal is very useful for my activity as I have the possibility to learn styles which are typical of students at risk of dropping out of education. It is easier now to identify those students. Also, in the Publications section one can find relevant material about early school leaving and learn more effective teaching strategies. The School Inclusion Portal is useful as a teaching tool because it offers real examples of students who abandoned school and, at the same time, strategies adopted or solutions to the problem. It was useful to be involved in a European project on the theme of the prevention of the early school leaving because it helped me identify students at risk of dropping out of education and because I acquired skills to reduce the phenomenon. I will continue to use the School Inclusion Portal for educational purposes because there I can find effective teaching strategies that help me prevent the problem of early school leaving.

The portal “ School Inclusion” has a very useful content for teachers’ activities, and of course for mine too, because here I have identified case studies on this theme, practical solutions for stopping this phenomenon, interactive methods of teaching- learning that can stimulate students’ participation into classes and last but not least didactic strategies for preventing the school dropout. The portal is very useful also because it can offer practical solutions from case studies, throughout the easier access to information regarding this theme, and also using the on-line communication between experts from the 5 European countries. The synthesis of publications is very complex, with a reachable structure that can speed up the access to the information on this theme. The implication into a project regarding “Prevention of the school dropout” has facilitated my professional development in this area because I have identified a lot of useful information on the school dropout theme, case studies and interactive teaching-learning methods, that have helped me a lot.

The suggestions offered really helped me in dealing with my students; I also learned how to react with my difficult students to avoid worsening the situation. I also used the interactive strategies suggested to improve our daily school preparation and noticed that my students became more active and interested in my classes. I also understood that cooperation among teachers (sharing experiences) can become a vital tool in coping with absenteeism. The comprehensive materials are reliable and useful for a wide range of purposes as well: raise awareness about the topic, refresh memory, introduce new ideas, suggest solutions, give practical examples or invite to reflection. The platform is a tool which consolidates good and positive attitudes, celebrates success and effort and encourages cooperation and communication.

I found the content of the course very useful because it presents different case studies. The participants in the Stay@School project deeply appreciated the project content (its well organized online course) and the opportunity given by the project forum to express opinions on the online materials as well as share ideas, experience and thoughts on the topic with a view to finding the best ways of managing dropout and its related issues. Everything has a solid scientific basis. It also seems that good communication and collaboration is the key- which this project also encourages. The course helps teachers, giving them practical strategies and interactive teaching methods to address the situation of pupils with problems, enabling them to identify learning situations, promoting learning through experimentation induction knowledge development and application skills in the field. The training initiatives addressed to teachers are very useful because provide them with the competences to prevent the early school leaving and with impact on the professional development. Also the publication collection was very appreciated by the teachers. Most of them are interested in reading and updating the competences necessary for dealing with this phenomenon and for this purpose teachers founded very useful the availability and the overall organization of the publication section.

The portal has been an opportunity to update me on the issue of early school leaving, but also to learn how to use non-traditional teaching training tools. The tips of the portal helped me to realize the school situation in other countries, but especially to face in school and in class the aspect of communication between teachers and between teachers and pupils. The portal helps us reconfigure our know-how and our solutions to avoid or at least to decrease the early school dropout. The cases presented here, along with the teacher’s experiences towards the school dropout, have helped me immensely in planning and evaluating the teaching methods for a better educational process. The sections of the School Inclusion Portal can bring new directions and can establish new ideas. If we analyse the situations that are under discussion regarding the identification of students that are on the verge of school dropout, one can say that the teacher has the most important role in preventing and stopping this phenomenon. This kind of portal - one useful not only for teachers, but for students, parents and public society too - should be from now on a constant presence in the education process because it can help people find important information regarding all kinds of educational processes; it can build useful networks between teachers and other categories that are directly implicated in the phenomenon; and most of all it can help solve - or at least try to stop - the process of school dropout.

I have found interesting to read about the approaches of other European countries to the problems at school. I think the strength is the fact of having international inputs, that for sure enrich it the most. Review of publications: Great selection, as said interesting point of views. Case studies: good to know that in other countries have sometimes so similar situations. Training package: it is the star point of many debates, I think. It is anyway good that a group of teachers are following it and will meet and discuss.

It let you know that you are doing well some things, but also helps to realise some things that I could improve at my classes. It is very good to have all this information so accessible. Reviews: It makes accessible a lot of interesting documents that I would not be able to find by my own or I didn’t know that they existed. Case studies: provide new ideas. In this Portal there is a lot of information, reading it makes me think about how I am doing things with my pupils. Specially, the teacher experiences are very motivating, because they are very practical and it is a good way of learning through experience. One strength of the Portal is that it helps you a lot to find information about how to work and manage the problem of students drop out, and you can realize this problem is quite similar in other countries. The reviews of publications are very useful because it is a fast way of finding some information and articles about something you are looking for. Case studies are useful because they are real situations and you have an immediate feedback if the decisions adopted worked out or not. Interviews give you an idea about how is working early school leaving of students in different countries. In Training package there is quite interesting information to read and I think it will be a nice and enriching experience to share our opinions with other teachers. Teachers experiences give me quite new ideas about what how to manage some problems with my pupils It is a good place to look for information and to get ideas to improve my work with pupils, of course I will use it.

I tried to apply the training package information by diversifying the classroom activities. I diminished the length of my teaching activities in order to include communication activities based on free discussions. It helped me establish relationships with the pupils based on trust, I achieved a better communication with the parents; also, I was able to diversify the range of methods used when teaching. I think that quick interaction is the website’s most valuable feature because now I am confident that if the school cannot offer me advice on a particular matter, I can always go through my list of website contacts and try to debate the issue with them, thus reaching a solution.

The Communication module offers ideas for an improved communication within the school between students, teachers and parents. The fourth video “Exclusion and Inclusion” made me reflect on the role that classmates have on a certain individual student: they can include or exclude another student very easily. Students need to belong to a group and be accepted by their family, so a good communication between these spheres (family, peers and community) leads to a harmonious confident personality. I found the training package very useful as it provided us with a wide variety of hands-on materials which can be applied to our work.

This portal provides teachers with a lot of information on an issue they are confronted to on a daily basis: understanding the phenomenon better, situation in other countries, educational tools, good practices carried out by their peers. Strengths: the portal is appealing, easy to use and translated in several languages. The “teachers’ experiences” are particularly interesting. This project helped me better understand the phenomenon and gave me the chance to create links with field workers. This personal enrichment and the resources will be useful in my practice, among other within the framework of the “School Safety Net” project, in which I participate on the request of Inforef.

The strengths are the centralised data, the accessibility for everyone in several countries, the translation in various languages.
